In the year 2003, on suggestions of Professor Kushal Sen, who was Director and Head of Placements at IIT Delhi, IvyLeague designed the Campus Placement Enhancement Program for IIT Delhi students. It gave excellent results and gave us the confidence to offer it to NSUT, Netaji Subhash University of Technology in 2004 and Jami Millia Islamia in 2005. Since then, we have offered the Campus Placement Enhancement Program as an institutional or independent program for students.
What is needed is to understand the requirements of corporates and moulding the students according to these requirements.
Corporates are looking for candidates with a well-rounded personality, domain knowledge provided by their colleges, relevant hard skills, soft skills, especially team and leadership abilities and ability to apply these skills in a corporate environment.
A well-rounded personality needs communication skills and interpersonal skills, a grasp on subjects taught during graduation to exhibit motivation levels, relevant hard skills such as application of knowledge, Analytical & Decision-Making Prowess, Core Business & Strategic Skills, Digital & Tech-Adjacent Capabilities, which bridge the gap between business and technology.
But, with respect to placements, students may have gaps in communication and interpersonal skills, such as language, grammar, vocabulary, ability to respond and express themselves. Other students may hesitate and be unable to think on their feet due to psychological issues and past experiences. Most students are not properly aware of the technicalities and parameters tested during interviews and how to improve on them. Overall, every student has some area, which needs improvement.
Though soft skills and leadership qualities are mainly responsible for getting the job, but some recruiting corporates may look for certain hard skills such as application of knowledge, Analytical & Decision-Making Prowess, Core Business & Strategic Skills, Digital & Tech-Adjacent Capabilities, which bridge the gap between business and technology.
Investment banks, corporate finance, and consulting organisations specifically look for Financial Modeling & Analysis. We have designed a comprehensive " Academic Effectiveness Module for Coaching Institutes ", which works at increasing flexibility of teachers to learn the "Socratic Method of Teaching" by initially conducting Personality and Emotional Intelligence sessions in a group for all teachers and then working with two teachers of each subject on a 1-on-1 basis to drive home the methods for each subject.
